About the campaign

If tens of thousands of Jewish women donate just $1 every day of Shmitah, we will have millions of dollars – enough to ensure that farmers who are currently hesitating will be able to keep Shmitah k’din. Because of us!
The money will be donated throughout the Shmitah year – but we need to give the farmers our commitment now.
In the coming weeks, the N׳shei Keren Hashviis will be running campaign events in communities throughout the world. This campaign’s success depends on women like you to get involved and help coordinate and run these events. Time is of the essence, which is why it’s crucial to spread the word about the N׳shei Keren Hashviis campaign to as many women as quickly as possible.

The Family Behind the Farmer

Behind every Shmitah-observant farmer is a wife who needs to tell her children ‘no’ time and again.
No, you can’t get new shoes; you’ll have to make do with the ripped ones.
No, we can’t buy yogurt; we barely have money for bread.
Fix the broken A/C in your bedroom? I’m sorry, sweetie; you’ll have to make do without it.
The Keren Hashviis stipends cover the farmer’s major annual expenses – land-lease, equipment payments, loans, ensuring that the farmer can keep his head above water.
But it doesn’t cover the regular expenses needed to support a family.
For mothers, the Shmitah sacrifice does not mean being on a tight budget. It means literally foregoing the basic necessities – all for the sake of this holy mitzvah.
N’shei Keren Hashviis is uniting women across the world in support of these heroic Shmitah-observant mothers. Women contribute $1 a day to a fund that goes directly towards the basic household expenses of these farmers’ families.

Medical expenses – Clothing – Food – Household expenses – Transportation – Unexpected emergencies

One Family

This year, Keren Hashviis is aiming for the biggest Shmitah ever.  Our goal is to have the majority of Jewish-owned land in Eretz Yisrael lie fallow in observance of this sacred mitzvah.
More land means more farmers.
More farmers means more families.
Let’s be there for them!  Every woman around the world can be a part of this incredible movement to support these heroic Shmitah wives.
Every donation protects and respects the dignity of the family behind the farmer.

Our goal:

By Rosh Hashana 5782:  Unite 7,000 women to support the Shmitah-observant families
Throughout Shmitah 5782: Unite 25,000 women to support the Shmitah-observant families.

Together, we can be there for them!

Questions and Answers

The N׳shei Keren Hashviis stipends are distributed on a case-by-case basis. Shmitah-observant mothers can apply as the need arises. Rabbi Shia Markowitz (chairman of Keren Hashviis) and an executive committee of mothers evaluate each request and distribute the stipends accordingly.

No, the money raised by N׳shei Keren Hashviis goes into a completely separate account. The general fundraising covers the Giborei Koach stipends. The N׳shei Keren Hashviis donations go specifically toward extra expenses that mothers encounter throughout the year. The N׳shei Keren Hashviis goal is to have 25,000 global mothers united in support of Israeli Shmitah-observant mothers.

Every dollar raised makes a difference to the dignity of families in Eretz Yisroel. You can join N׳shei Keren Hashviis with either a one-time donation, weekly, or monthly donation for any amount — for either more or less than $1 a day. You can choose to match the mother’s mesiras nefesh by donating even more, such as $2 or $5 a day.

Yes. In addition to donating, you can support N׳shei Keren Hashviis by sharing the initiative with more mothers. If everyone who joins invites 3-5 friends to join the mitzvah, we will b’ezras Hashem reach our goal of uniting 25,000 mothers.
You can also organize an event in your community, where women will have the chance to hear directly from a farmer’s wife. Reach out to Keren Hashviis and we can help make the arrangements.
